Just a quick update. I had an awesome time in Salem, OH. I take revivals so I can get some rest! Seriously, the Lord really helped and they rescheduled me for 2011. I can’t wait to go back! It was an awesome church led by an awesome pastor, Duane Quesenberry. His wife, Valorie, was a gracious hostess who fed me and fed me and fed me and fed me… My jaw is sore from eating so much! Their kids, Ashley, Autumn, Stewart, and Kaley were awesome! I had a blast with them!
Tomorrow I’m leaving for Youth Challenge. It’s going to be a very busy week. Hopefully next week I’ll update you about YC and have some pictures too. Ta ta for now!!
Just wanted to let everyone know the next few weeks are going to be extremely busy so I may have to put blogging on hold for a while. Tomorrow I leave for Salem, OH to preach a revival and then next week is Youth Challenge. When the dust settles I’ll have plenty of pictures and updates. In the mean time: What has four legs and an arm?
A happy Pit bull.
This is pastor appreciation month and I just want to say how blessed I am to work side by side with the greatest pastor in the world! He and his wife are just simply the best! I love you guys!
The room was full of pregnant women and their partners, and the Lamaze class
was in full swing. The instructor was teaching the women how to breathe
properly, along with informing the men how to give the necessary assurances
at this stage of the plan.
The teacher then announced, “Ladies, exercise is good for you. Walking is
especially beneficial. And, gentlemen, it wouldn’t hurt you to take the time
to go walking with your partner!”
The room really got quiet. Finally, a man in the middle of the group raised
his hand.
“Yes?” replied the teacher.
“Is it ok if she carries a golf bag while we walk?”
I read Isaiah 6 in my devotions this morning. Whenever I read that I am always gripped by God’s complete holiness. I wrote in my journal this morning, “Lord, your holiness is underived. Whatever holiness I have is derived from you.” Often times we, as holiness people, think that we are holy because we “keep standards.” That could not be further from the truth. We are to be holy because God is holy and our holiness comes from Him. It is derived from Him. He makes us holy–not the things we do or don’t do. Holiness begins–not with ourselves, but with God. We need to see His holiness, His absolute purity and moral hatred for sin. As we do we will be gripped by the awfulness of sin against a Holy God. We tend to see sin in a subjective way. It’s something we should avoid because it will defile me. God help us to see sin an affront to His absolute holiness. Yes, we should avoid sin–not merely because of what it does to us, but because it is an offense to God’s absolute holiness and purity. To be gripped by that fact is our first step to a lifelong pursuit of holiness.
